AUSTIN (KXAN) - Austin police have arrested and jailed Allen Whipple, 43, of Austin, after his wife found images of a nude child on his cellphone last month and she contacted police.
Whipple was charged on Jan. 13 with five counts of promotion of child pornography, a second-degree felony, and one count of indecency with a child, a third-degree felony.
The police affidavit states that Whipple called his wife the same day she found the photos and told her he wanted to turn himself in.
Police found Whipple at a nearby story, videotaped and made an audio tape in the back of the patrol car of the officer reading him the Miranda Rights, and asked if Whipple wanted to answer some questions.
Whipple said he wanted counsel first, then called his wife and allegedly admitted to performing certain sexual acts with the victim. He said the last incident was about a month ago, according to the affidavit.
He was booked into Williamson County Jail where he remains on a total of $135,000 bond and also ordered to surrender his passport.
