BASTROP, Texas (KXAN) - The U.S. Marshals Service is currently looking for two men who walked away from the Bastrop Federal Prison Camp over the weekend.
Leandro Luna, 52, and Adan Chavez, 53, were serving narcotic-related sentences.
Luna, convicted and sentenced in 2006 in the Western District of Texas for marijuana importation and distribution, was serving a 120-month sentence.
Chavez was convicted and sentenced in 1990 in the Southern District of Texas and was serving a 360-month sentence for marijuana, cocaine and weapons-related charges.
The U.S. Marshals, led by Lone Star Fugitive Task Force, is conducting a criminal investigation to determine if others were involved, assisted or had knowledge of the pair's intent to escape on Friday night.
It is not known if the pair may have split up after their flight, remained together or were assisted by others on the outside. Additional federal charges of escape are anticipated to be filed against the duo.
The public is reminded that it is a violation of federal law to assist or aid in the escape of fugitives that were confined to the custody of the Bureau of Prisons.
If you have any information, you are urged to call the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force at (512) 916-5393 or your nearest law enforcement agency.
