BURNET COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) - Burnet County deputies arrived at a residence in Briggs, Texas to find one man had been stabbed to death Sunday night.
Authorities responded to 733 FM 2657 at 9 p.m. following a 911 report of a stabbing at that location to find Coy Dustin Dowdle, 39, dead at the scene.
Dwayne Edward Nash, 49, told Investigators Dowdle entered the residence and attacked him. Nash told officers that during the fight, he stabbed Dowdle in the chest with a bone-handled knife.
Authorities arrested Nash and charged him with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony. He is in the Burnet County Jail awaiting arraignment.
Meanwhile, the Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office will perform an autopsy for Dowdle.
Authorities said the investigation is continuing into the events and circumstances concerning the death of Dowdle.
