AUSTIN (KXAN) - A clinical assistant at an Austin hospital was able to stop the sexual assault of a patient right before it was about to happen on Friday.
According to an arrest affidavit, police charged Jonathan Mayeur, 20, with attempted sexual assault after he tried to sexually assault a female patient at a hospital where he was also a patient.
Mayeur told detectives he was playing the piano in the common area of the hospital when the victim approached him wearing nothing but a hospital gown. He said she seemed "drowsy" and he asked her if she had taken her medication that day.
Mayeur then helped the victim walk to her room but when he got there he started to undress himself and attempted to assault the victim, according to the affidavit.
At that time, the hospital employee came in, saw what was going and yelled to Mayeur which made him get away from the victim immediately.
According to the affidavit, the victim told her doctor that she told the suspect to "get off me" but that he didn't comply.
The suspect told detectives he knew what he was doing was wrong and hoped that someone would stop him.
Police are not releasing the name of the hospital where the incident occurred.
