San Marcos police are on the lookout for three men who burglarized an elderly couple's home Tuesday afternoon. "They came inside my house and steal my money," said Jesus Vengas. San Marcos Police said the men are traveling in a black truck. While no other similar crimes have been reported recently in San Marcos, the crime is not unusual. "They will look for easy prey," said Commander Terry Nichols.
The men entered the Vengas' home in broad daylight under the ruse of doing repair work. While one of the men was outside discussing the work with Vengas, the two other men went inside the house and searched through the couples belongings, stealing $3,000. The couple kept their life savings inside their San Marcos home thinking it would be safe.
One of the couple's neighbors saw the men at the home Tuesday afternoon. "I saw three men and I had never seen them before but since they were pointing to the roof I thought maybe they are fixing the roof," said Jesse Rivas, neighbor.
The three men are described as Hispanic and between 40 and 50 years old and were driving a black truck. Anyone with information is asked to call the San Marcos Police Department at (512) 753-2108.
