KYLE, Texas (KXAN) - After the death of a 10-week-old baby boy on Nov. 25, Hays County District Attorney's Office Thursday increased the bond for the day care owner charged with first-degree injury to the child who was in her care.
Christina Suzanne Lyons, owner of Little Lyons Cub Day Care in Kyle, had been released on a $50,000 bond. While the charge against Lyons has not changed, bond was increased to $500,000.
Lyons is back in Hays County Jail after she turned herself in to authorities Thursday.
Kyle Police Department responded to the day care home on Nov. 18 for reported injuries to Benjamin Spencer. He was taken to Dell Children's Hospital suffering from head injuries. Lyons told police she left the child unattended on a sofa in the living area while she used the restroom. She said when she returned, he was on the hardwood floor lying face up, according to court documents.
Lyons told police she saw swelling on the left side of Spencer's head area and tried to contact several of his family members before calling 911.
According to the probable cause affidavit, investigating officers believe that the account given by Lyons was not consistent with the injuries suffered by the child.
The day care center was licensed and officials from Child Protective Services are involved in the case.
