BASTROP, Texas (KXAN) - Bastrop police are investigating a deadly shooting at a home at 413 Juniper St. in Bastrop .
Bastrop Police Department Chief David Baird said a man called 911 at 3:15 p.m. Thursday and told the dispatcher his wife was dead. When police arrived, they discovered Myra Beggs, 58, dead in a bedroom from an apparent gunshot wound. Her husband, Terry Beggs, 57, was also shot in the head and taken to Brackenridge with critical injuries.
Police recovered a revolver in the bedroom where the couple was found. They are investigating the shootings as a possible murder and attempted suicide.
"We don't believe there was any type of forced entry," said Chief Baird. "We don't have any indication to believe there is a suspect out there, but we're still in the early stages of the investigation and time will certainly tell."
One neighbor said the couple was quiet and she never saw or heard them argue. She says the husband was upset over the recent loss of his job.
