Bank robber shoots gun at witness

Robbery occurred on Nov. 18 at a Wells Fargo

AUSTIN (KXAN) - After a bank robbery suspect left the scene of the crime, witnesses claim they followed him. But, when the suspect saw them, he allegedly fired a gun at one of the witnesses.

On Nov. 18, the suspect entered a Wells Fargo bank in South Austin at 10:16 a.m. The suspect demanded money and left on foot with the stolen money.

The witnesses started to follow him as he walked down a street behind the bank. He fired a gun at one of the witnesses. Luckily, no one was injured.

Police responded to the bank robbery and immediately set up a perimeter. The police were able to find the suspect later and apprehended him without incident. Police were able to also get the stolen money back.

The case is still under investigation. This marks the 16th bank robbery of 2009.
