AUSTIN (KXAN) - Wednesday morning brought the first look inside Austin's fusion center .

Austin police walked KXAN Austin News through the Austin Regional Intelligence Center .

The new facility will unite information from 10 surrounding agencies and will make it easier for law enforcement agencies throughout the area to combine and share data. Officials have said that will give them a large advantage in the fight against crime.

The fusion center opened up despite some protests from some civil rights groups that claimed it will lead to profiling and an abuse of surveillance.
