GEORGETOWN (KXAN) - A late night prowler call for Georgetown Police turned into a short pursuit and ended with two Round Rock brothers in custody for charges of evading arrest/detention using a vehicle.

Georgetown Police say they were responding to a report of a prowler around 2:53 a.m. on Saturday in the 200 block of Royal Dr. when the responding officers heard gunshots in the area. An officer responding to the call observed a Brown Ford pick-up truck leaving the area at a high rate of speed with their head lights off.

Georgetown police began following the vehicle that it was possibly involved in the incident. During this time the truck ran a red light at the corner of Austin Ave and Williams Dr. before turning right onto the frontage road of IH-35.

The vehicle then entered IH-35 and continued south which led officers to initiate a pursuit. According to police, the vehicle finally came to a voluntary stop just south of Westinghouse Rd, at mile marker 257.

Officers performed a high risk stop of the vehicle believing that the vehicle was involved in their original call and the report of gunshots.

The pick-up was occupied by two male subjects, later identified as Joey Mitchell and Jacob Mitchell, who were removed at gunpoint. The driver, 29 year old Joey Mitchell, failed to heed the request of officers after exiting the vehicle, and had to be tasered to be taken into custody.

The other male subject and passenger, 23 year old Jacob Mitchell, was removed from the vehicle and taken into custody without incident. A search of the vehicle revealed a loaded Glock 45 Caliber handgun on the front seat of the pick-up as well as several spent .45 cartridges that were found inside the vehicle.

Both men were taken into custody at the Williamson County Jail.

Georgetown Police are still investigating this incident and ask anyone with information relating to this case to please contact the Georgetown Police Department at tipline@georgetowntx.org or 930-CRIME (2746). All tips are anonymous.

No officers were injured and no vehicles were damaged in the incident.
