AUSTIN (KXAN) - A Round Rock High School ROTC teacher Cullin Lumpkins was arrested Wednesday night on the charge of sexual assault of a minor. He has worked for Round Rock ISD since July 2004. According to the Arrest Warrant Lumpkins is accused of performing oral sex on a 14 year old girl in Hutto in June of 2007. The warrant goes on to read that on February 25, 2009 Lumpkins admitted to a Williamson County detective that he had committed the crime. The girl had told a child advocacy worker abouse the sex assault. Lumpkins is a retired U.S. Marine Infantry Officer who served 22 years on active service.

The alleged victim in this case is not a Round Rock High School student. Lumpkins is still in jail as of Thursday.

Parents picking up their kids from Round Rock High School Thursday afternoon said they will be talking to their kids. "It's unfortunate you almost want to walk you kids to class,” said Lucia Diaz, parent.

A letter sent out to parents reads “Lumpkins will not be returning to campus” but we've been told he is on paid administrative leave during the investigation. "He has great relationships with teachers at the school the students like him so when we were told of the incident it was a complete shock," said JoyLynn Occhiuzzi, Round Rock Independent School District Spokesperson.

Lumpkin had access to 107 students in the ROTC program at the high school this year alone.

According to the arrest warrant Lumpkins committed the crime a year and a half ago but the girl just recently told a child advocacy worker. Investigators said that is pretty common. "It will take them quite a while to come forward put yourself in their shoes they want to forget about it they don't want to accept what has happened," said Detective John Foster, Williamson County Sheriff’s Office. Now parents are concerned about the girl and hope there are not any other victims. "She's just a little girl,” said Caroline Urbano, Round Rock High School Parent. “She's going to be subject to a lot of stuff now."

There are no other accusations agaist Lumpkins. Meanwhile, the school district is advising parents to talk to their children about Lumpkins and the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office would like to hear from any other victims.
