ROUND MOUNTAIN, Texas (KXAN) - Hill Country Area Crime Stoppers reports the remaining two Round Mountain bank robbery suspects are now in custody. Police caught up with the men near Johnson City on Saturday.
The Blanco County Sheriff's Office said a trio of men ambushed an employee at Cattleman's National Bank in Round Mountain just before 7 a.m. Friday as he was unlocking the back door. The employee told officers they held him at gunpoint and forced him inside the building.
Somehow, the employee managed to alert police during the incident. Officers were outside before the men could take any money. They then used the employee as a hostage and a shield to escape. The employee suffered a minor injury but was later released from medical care.
Police caught one suspect shortly after the robbery, hiding in the trunk of the group's vehicle, according to the sheriff's office. The other two men fled on foot away from the area.
Crews scoured the surrounding area throughout the weekend. They used K9 teams and horses in the search, even utilizing thermal imaging devices.
Police are now looking into a possible connection with another bank robbery last month in neighboring Blanco, where robbers with similar descriptions tied up bank employees and escaped with an undisclosed amount of money.
