Naked man bites cop, shot with Taser

AUSTIN (KXAN) - A naked man lunged at police officers and bit one in the leg while they tried to subdue him in East Austin on Saturday.

The police, while responding to another disturbance call, saw a naked man attacking a man and a woman on the side of the road. The naked man was punching the other man repeatedly. He then picked up the woman and flung her around. The police were able to stop the assault and made the man, later identified as Ernest Smith III, lie down on the ground.

Smith, who was covered in blood, was instructed to stay on the ground. The police pointed a Taser at him so he would not get up. However, when the police started to put on gloves so they could arrest Smith, he got up and lunged at the officers.

The officer shot this stun gun at Smith but Smith continued to struggle. When one of the officers tried to handcuff Smith, he bit the officer's leg. The officers had to shoot Smith with the Taser again to stop the attack.

The victim claimed Smith was jumping on her car in East Austin. When the woman told Smith get off of her car, Smith allegedly hit her several times.

It is unknown at this time why the man was nude.
