AUSTIN (KXAN) - A disabled man's medication was stolen as he was exiting the CVS on Briarcliff Boulevard and Berkman Drive on Sunday. Keith Lopez, who is wheelchair-bound, was holding his decongestant medication he had just received from the pharmacy around 9:23 p.m.. Suddenly, a man walked up to him and asked to see the medication. Lopez refused, stating that he thought the man would steal the medication. Jonte Walker, the suspect, assured Lopez he only wanted to look at the medication. When Lopez refused a second time, Walker snatched the bottle of medicine and ran west on Briarcliff Boulevard.

Austin police were called out to the scene. They received a description of Walker as a black male wearing a black and white hoodie with basketball shoes. Police later found a man running down Briarcliff Boulevard that matched that description. The police then conducted a suspect stop. The officer asked Walker why he was breathing so hard and Walker stated he was running from a dog. Walker was frisked for safety, and a bottle of medicine was found in his front left jacket pocket. The bottle had Keith Lopez's name on it.

Lopez positively identified Walker as the man who stole his medication. Walker currently faces theft from person charges.
