AUSTIN, Texas (KXAN) -- Maurice Pierce, who was charged in the 1991 Yogurt Shop Murders case, is behind bars Friday, according to the Austin Police Department.

APD arrested Pierce, 32, in the 12000 block of Carrera Drive  just after 1:15 a.m. Friday.

Officers had to use a Taser on Pierce, as he resisted arrest.

He had an arrest warrant out of Plano for assault on a police officer.

There is no word on if any new charges will come out of APD's arrest, since he did resist.

Saying that prosecutors lack enough evidence to "convict him right now," District Attorney Ronnie Earle announced at a press conference January 28, 2003, his office has dropped all charges against Pierce, the last man awaiting trial in the 1991 yogurt-shop murders.
