AUSTIN (KXAN) - Austin police arrived on the scene of a burglary and found a '96 Chevrolet traveling at a high rate of speed. The police turned on their siren and lights and attempted to pull over the car. The vehicle continued to travel at about 60 mph down Braker Lane, despite the sirens. Then, the driver began to throw things from the car out of the passenger side window.
There were many cars at the intersection of W. Braker Lane and N. Lamar Boulevard, but the driver entered the intersection, weaving in and out of traffic to avoid cars. The chase continued to Middle Fiskville Road, which dead ends at the N. Interstate 35 frontage road. The car drove through a field, crashing through an Affordable Portable Structures building. The driver continued driving after crashing through that structure, but eventually came to a stop near the frontage road at a closed gate.
The car traveled about three miles after the police turned on their siren and lights. When police searched the truck, they found two cash registers, a band saw, two nail guns, power drills, a stereo, an impact wrench, an angle grinder, an entry rug and a laser kit. The men accused are driver Richard Houck, 50, Christopher Nardecchia, 29, and Miguel Macias, 41, who were passengers in the car.
