AUSTIN (KXAN) - One desperate Austinite was shot after trying to get his job back.
According to Austin police, the owner of a North Austin tire shop shot a former employee when he asked for his job back.
Police said John Whitt, 67, is now in jail on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Police said the employee was shot in the stomach and went to Brackenridge Hospital. Police initially responded to a disturbance call in the 12000 block of N. Lamar around 2:46 p.m. on Sunday.
The unemployment rate in the U.S. has reached 9.5 percent, as companies continue to cut jobs.
