AUSTIN (KXAN) - Austin police said a drunk man stole a pizza delivery man's vehicle Monday night.
According to court documents made public Wednesday, a Domino's Pizza delivery driver stepped inside the pizzeria on Lamar Boulevard and Rutland Drive to get his next set of deliveries around 8:30 p.m. Monday. Police said, while he was in there, David Gallegos, 27, got into the pizza guy's car and drove off.
Police happened to pull Gallegos over on an unrelated charge while the pizza driver was telling 911 dispatchers about theft of the car. (The stolen car actually belonged to the pizza delivery man's brother-in-law, according to the affidavit. He was just borrowing it to deliver pizza.)
Police took the pizza driver to the 7800 block of North Lamar Boulevard where Gallegos was pulled over. He got back in and finished delivering pizzas.
There is no word on if the pizza was delivered in 30 minutes or less.
Gallegos is charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and driving while intoxicated. If convicted, he could face up to two years in jail and a fine of up to $10,000.
