AUSTIN (KXAN) - Three people were arrested in connection with a home burglary before noon Friday after their vehicle crashed as police chased the car. A fourth person was still being sought.

The incident happened in the 1500 block of Jersey Drive in North Austin.

Students at Barrington Elementary School, 9306 Glenn Lane, were not allowed to leave the building after the incident began around 12:45 p.m. The school was "sheltering in place," not quite a lockdown, according to school officials.

Austin Independent School District officials said students in Pre-Kindergarten were released into the care of their parents.

Students in other classes were to be released by 2:45 p.m. by school bus and taken home.

After the wreck  into the mailbox and pole in front of the house, the suspects fled. Police with dogs participated in the search. A helicopter was also called in around 1 p.m.

Police said two men and one woman were taken into custody. One suspect remains on the run.
