AUSTIN (KXAN) - A man riding a motor scooter died after a T-bone crash with a minivan Friday night in East Austin.  The scooter was headed east on Springdale, near Airport.  The van was driving westbound, then tried to turn into an apartment complex, in the path of the scooter.  The two collided just after 9:00 pm.

Nearby witnesses called 911.  The scooter driver was taken to University Medical Center Brackenridge with critical injuries. He was pronounced dead at the hospital. Police are still working to notify his family, and have not yet released his identity.  Three passengers in the van were also taken to the hospital, but their injuries are not life-threatening.

Police are also still investigating which driver was at fault in the wreck. Sgt. Mark Breckenridge said officers are not sure whether the van cut off the scooter, or if the scooter rider was speeding and was unable to stop in time.
