Austin (KXAN) - Viking Range Corporation and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of about 45,000 Viking Built-In Side-by-Side Refrigerator/Freezers and Refrigerators with Bottom Freezers.
The refrigerator’s door can detach, posing an injury hazard to consumers. Viking received about 57 reports of detaching doors, including four reports involving bruises, broken toes, fingers and strains. Also, incidents of floor and counter damage have been reported.
Refrigerators manufactured and sold nationwide from July 1999 to April 2006 are affected by this recall. For detailed information about serial numbers affected by the recall, visit http://cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml09/09242.html.
Consumers with recalled refrigerators should immediately stop using them if they are not working properly and contact Viking to schedule a free in-home repair.
