SAN ANTONIO (KXAN) - H-E-B has voluntarily recalled several beef products, fearing they may be contaminated with E. Coli bacteria.

All 421,280 pounds of the affected meat were manufactured by Colorado-based JBS Swift Beef Company .

The recalled products include:

  • Raw beef briskets with plant inspection #969 and sell-by dates between 5/12 and 6/20
  • Raw beef inside skirt steaks in a Styrofoam tray with sell-by dates between 5/4 and 6/20
  • Hill Country Fare beef for fajitas with a sell-by date of 5/23
  • Any fresh ground beef in a Styrofoam tray with sell-by dates between 5/9 and 6/20

H-E-B said it has taken all the affected products off store shelves.

H-E-B has not received any reports of people getting sick from the meat, and there have been no reports of illnesses in Texas due to the recall.

H-E-B is advising customers to check all beef in their refrigerators and freezers to make sure they don't have any of the possibly contaminated products.

If you do, return the products to your nearest H-E-B for a refund or replacement. If you have any questions about the recall, call H-E-B customer relations at 1-800 432-3113 or visit the Food Safety and Inspection Service's Web site for specific product details.

Locally, the Capital Area Food Bank voluntarily halting distribution of all beef products until further notice.

"Food safety is absolutely paramount to our operation," said David Davenport, CAFB President and CEO. "The health and safety of the more than 300,000 Central Texans relying on emergency food from us is behind this decision."
