AUSTIN (KXAN) - The Alamo Drafthouse brand will be expand its brand into the film distribution business, founder Tim League announced on Friday.

Alamo Drafthouse , which combines an eclectic movie theater with a bar and restaurant venue, is known for its signature events such as its Michael Jackson sing-a-longs and horror-fantasy genre Fantastic Fest. Last month, it created its Shark Week.

The first film to be released under the Alamo Drafthouse label will be Four Lions, a satirical Britsh comedy about the war on terror directed by Chris Morris. The film was well received on the festival circuit, said League. Critics called it “a brilliant film – astonishingly funny,” causing “so many different kinds of laughter it’s almost incredible.”

“I’ve been a huge fan of Chris Morris’ comedic television and radio for years,” said League in his announcement. “To launch our new distribution label with what I consider to be a modern classic is a dream come true.”

Four Lions will kick off a 10-city promotional screening tour with Morris in attendance in mid-October. The film is slated to release this fall in New York, Los Angeles and Austin and will expand wider in the following weeks.
