Recycling electronics is free and eco-friendly

AUSTIN, Texas (KXAN) -- When you throw away your old computer, that machine sits in a landfill, leaving the possibility for harmful battery chemicals and other parts to deliver harmful toxins into the ground.

That is why several Austin-based groups want to make it easier to recycle your electronics.

Tuesday a new law goes into effect requiring all companies selling computers to offer free and convenient recycling of their old computer equipment.
