(KXAN/TAIWAN NEWS) - Dell Taiwan accidentally priced a 19-inch monitor, normally costing around $150, at only $15 on Dell's Web site.
The mistake was live on Dell's Web site on June 25 at 11 p.m. until removed eight hours later. The accident could end up costing Dell roughly $2.1 million in computer sales if they honor the 140,000 orders placed during that time.
The Taiwanese Consumer Protection Commission has suggested Dell honors the misprice for all orders placed due to the hundreds of complaints recieved. Taiwan's Consumer Protection Commission said Dell's failure to comply with the 140,000 orders would be a violation of Taiwan's fair trade laws, according to Taiwan News .
"Many consumers are angry because the way Dell handles [the issue] is not like the attitude of a large international company," said Hsieh Tien-jen, chairman of the foundation. "We hope Dell will respond to the Consumer Protection Commission settlement proposal."
Dell apologized for their mistake and said they plan to "offer reasonable discounts to the orders received under the wrong price."
However, the company has yet to comment if they will honor all 140,000 orders placed. Discussions are still underway with the Taiwanese authorities on a final settlement on the issue.
