AUSTIN (KXAN) - HostGator, a Houston-based blog hosting company, will expand to Austin, bringing 300 jobs with it.

According to the company's own blog , HostGator has leased about 100,000 square feet in East Austin. The expectation is to have its offices open by the end of July. The company's headquarters will remain in Houston.

The blog also explains why the announcement wasn't made in April.

"On April 20th 2010 we were going to close on the building in Austin. At that time we were at a baseball game here in Houston when Brent informed me that our bank had sent 4 million dollars for the purchase of the building to an unknown source," according to the blog. "It delayed our closing on the building by about 2 days. While this turned out to not be that big of deal, you would think that the person in charge of the “BIG RED BUTTON” to transfer 4 million USD would have double, triple and quadruple checked."

The annoucement comes after a handful of economic development agreements this year for the City of Austin that could eventually bring more than 1,000 jobs.

Hanger Orthopaedic Group , LegalZoom , Facebook and Yingli , all had agreements approved earlier this year, though Yingli announced Monday it would suspend its North American expansion indefinitely, meaning 300 jobs from that company will not come to Austin any time soon.
