AUSTIN (KXAN) - Every weekend, Austin School of Film offers classes for aspiring filmmakers.Students learn everything from digital filmmaking to creating Japanese anime cartoons. Courses are designed for filmmaking in a digital age.

"You could shoot a whole skateboarding movie on your phone now," said Jennifer Brandon, Austin School of Film, Marketing and External Relations Director.

Students are learning the art of filmmaking from start to finish for the 21st century. They are learning how to write a script, shoot it, light it and edit it.

"There's no excuse not to create or hone your craft," said Brandon.

The Austin School of Film has been open for the last 10 years, offering a variety of classes with well-known guest instructors from the film industry. Courses are offered to students of all ages with special classes for the youth.

"Every year, we try to find those kids, the cool, creative ones, who don't have an outlet at school," said Brandon. "One thing that's great about this school, particularly for the youth on Saturdays, is that you can drop in and learn it so easily."

The school also offers a digital video certificate program, training students on video production and post-production. Through these courses, students can walk out of the school and walk onto the set of a production.

Courses range in price from $95 to $1,000..For more information on Austin School of Film, visit their Web Site at http://www.austinfilmschool.org/index.html
