AUSTIN (KXAN) - An Austin man who supports gay rights will get the chance to meet President Obama Wednesday in Washington D.C. at a White House reception.

President Obama declared the month of June LGBT Pride Month.

Joshua Loker, the state coordinator for Courage Campaign , will attend a White House briefing and a reception on June 29th - where he'll have the chance to meet President Obama and the First Lady.

He hopes that the reception will highlight the LGBT community's efforts to educate the country.

"Once they take the time to actually be informed and listen to us to what we have to say as far as our rights that we have a valid argument, we have valid points to make and that's all we want to do. We want to come across as a... in a mature manner, a loving manner and show that we deserve the rights just as far as everybody else does," said Loker.

Loker will join other gay community leaders from around the US at the reception.
