PFLUGERVILLE, Texas - (COMMUNITY IMPACT NEWSPAPER) -- One of the six driver's license "megacenters" planned by the Texas Department of Public Safety throughout the state will be built in Pflugerville.
The new centers are part of a $63 million initiative from the State Legislature to cut down on wait times and red tape at driver's license centers. The Pflugerville center will be the only such DPS drivers license facility in the Austin area.
Pflugerville officials said the state estimates the center would attract 500- to 600 trips per day, create 57 jobs and spur development in the surrounding area.
"Those people will ideally live, shop and work in Pflugerville. And those 500-600 trips will add to our sales tax dollars," Pflugerville Community Development Corp. Executive Director Floyd Akers said.
