LLANO COUNTY, Texas(KXAN) - A former Westlake student was killed on Friday in a car crash in Llano County.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the accident happened at Highway 71 and CR 411 around 1:40 p.m.

DPS says a 2001 Ford F-350, driven by Kendrick Klein Cutsinger, 20, was traveling eastbound on Highway 71 when the vehicle failed to negotiate a curve, overcorrected and rolled over.

Cutsinger and his passenger, friend Julio Rada-Moya, 19, were ejected from the vehicle.

DPS says Cutsinger died at the scene. Rada-Moya was taken to UMC Brackenridge and is in serious condition.

Kendrick Cutsinger played football at Westlake High School, where he graduated from in 2008.

He went on to play tight end as a true freshman at West Texas A&M University in the fall of 2008.

The 6’4” 20-year-old left an impression on the field. Cutslinger helped lead Westlake to a 7-4 mark as a senior in 2007. He was honored as an all-District 25-5A and all-Centex tight end selection.

Cutsinger saw action as a WT Buffalo in nearly two dozen games.

West Texas A&M University is reacting to the loss of the Junior general business major.

“As a University, we are deeply saddened by the loss of Kendrick Cutsinger and want to express our heartfelt sympathy to his family and loved ones,” said WTAMU President Dr. J. Patrick O’Brien. “His leadership on the field and in the classroom will be missed."

Rada-Moya, of Venezuela, is currently a student at West Texas A&M University and previously played for the school's soccer team.

“The injuries to Julio Rada-Moya are significant,” O’Brien said. “We will keep him in our prayers. Rada-Moya is an international student from Venezuela, and we will continue to work with him and his family to ensure that his recovery and recuperation are surrounded by the love and support of the University community.”

Neither student was wearing a seatbelt.
