AUSTIN (KXAN) - Homicide detectives are investigating the death of a teenage girl at an East Austin apartment complex. Austin police are calling the death suspicious.

Police were initially responding to assist an EMS call at Huntington Meadows Apartment Complex Sunday morning, but instead, they found the girl's body. The apartment complex is located at 7000 Decker Lane.

"When they did enter the apartment, just from the evidence they collected, there is obvious signs of being suspicious in nature of the whole incident," said Sgt. James Mason, Austin Police Department.

Investigators are now trying to figure out exactly what led to the teen's death.

"Right now, homicide detectives are on scene," said Sgt. Mason. "Right now, they're in the process of processing the whole scene."

Tonya Crenshaw lives in the apartment complex. She is not surprised.

"The cops are here a lot," said Crenshaw. "I see them a lot."

Crenshaw has two little girls and a baby on the way. She tries her best to keep her family safe.

"I've heard about a lot of robberies," said Crenshaw. "They say the more back of the apartment complex you go, the more radios and cars that get broken into."

This young girl's death has Crenshaw thinking twice about living there.

"With the economy the way it is, we don't have money to move," said Crenshaw. "It's hard."
