AUSTIN (KXAN) - After a record-tying 81 degrees Tuesday afternoon, a very cold storm system aloft dropped temperatures to near freezing by 10 pm, with sleet and snow in the Hill Country and Austin metro area.
A wintry mix of cold light rain, sleet, and snow continued to fall into the early morning hours Wednesday, then ended abruptly as the upper low shifted eastward.
Ground temperatures remained warm, so there was little ice accumulation. A few minor accidents were reported, however no bridges or overpasses were closed due to the weather.
Tonight: Clearing skies and very cold.
Temperatuers falling into the 20s with teens possible in the hill
country.
