New federal courthouse on the way

Austin Congressman Lloyd Doggett today announced that $116 million in federal funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act have been approved for the U.S. Federal Courthouse in Austin.

Said Rep. Doggett: “This $116 million means local construction jobs now when we need them most, a significant addition to downtown Austin, and a long overdue improvement benefiting all who rely upon our federal justice system—good reasons for why I voted for the Economic Recovery bill.”

The project was scheduled to begin in 2010, but under the new bill, it will be made "shovel ready" sooner.
