AUSTIN (KXAN) - Both northbound and southbound lanes of US Hwy 183 in Southeast Austin are now back open, after emergency crews temporarily shut the road down Saturday morning, because of a natural gas leak. Austin firefighters and Hazmat crews responded to the gas leak around 10 a.m.

Fire officials said construction workers were working on a fence in a homeowner's front yard, when they hit a natural gas supply line to the house. Natural gas leaked out for about five minutes.

183 northbound and southbound lanes were closed until emergency crews squeezed the line and stopped the leak.
