DENVER (AP) — Noble Energy Inc. plans to build a $45 million liquefied natural gas plant in Weld County to provide fuel for its equipment in northern Colorado.

The company said Thursday that its plant would have the capacity to produce 100,000 gallons of fuel. That would be enough to power its equipment and have enough left over for other energy companies in northern Colorado.

Noble Energy says the facility will operate with the company's planned Keota natural gas processing plant that's targeted to start operating in the second half of 2014.

The natural gas industry has been encouraging commercial fleets to use compressed natural gas or liquefied natural gas as fuel, and Noble Energy has been revving up its energy development activity in northern Colorado.
