AUSTIN (KXAN) - Parents searching for child care know it can be a daunting task. From figuring out what type of care is best, to finding a place that has an opening - it can be a lot of work.
But a new business started by an Austin mom takes the leg work out of finding child care.
Since Tyler was born two years ago, Trisha Krogstad has been a full time stay at home mom. "I'm starting to look at going back to work again and started a small CPR company," said Krogstad.
A new career in the future means finding child care again. "I did this 8 years ago and I don't want to call it agony but the stress of trying to find a place for your kid," said Krogstad.
To avoid the stress of researching everything from nannies to daycare services she turned to Rebecca Cole and her new business called Nurture My Child . "Whether they need in-home family care, daycare, Montessori school, preschool, after school care or a nanny, we look at the whole picture and put a solution together that meets the needs of all children in the family," said Cole.
Rebecca, who has two kids of her own, goes to the client's home and sits down with them to figure out their needs and budget.
"We do all the legwork, we make all the phone calls," said Cole. "We have over 100 criteria we assess the facilities on and we give that information to the family to make their decision."
Cole will go with the parents to the facilities, so they can check them out. The service helped Trisha find a part-time nanny while she gets her business off the ground - and it’s helped her plan for the future.
"There can be a one to two year waiting list for the in demand preschools and Montessori schools so parents really need to understand this is something they have to do their homework on and really do ahead of time," said Cole.
The cost to use the service varies depending on what kind of childcare a parents is looking for.
