AUSTIN - The Texas Longhorns are one step closer to the College World Series.  They beat TCU in Game-1 of their NCAA super-regional at UFCU Disch Falk Field Saturday.

The Longhorns had an answer for every TCU attack.  Taylor Featherston gave the Horned Frogs a 1-0 lead in the first inning with a solo homerun, only to have Texas respond in the bottom half with a two-run double from Kevin Keyes.

A similar situation developed in the sixth.  Matt Fern launched a two-run shot to tie the game 4-4, but Connor Rowe drove in Preston Clark to regain the lead.

Texas set an NCAA record with seven sacrifices in the game.  Michael Torres added two homeruns, doubling his season total.

"We just happened to have one of those games that was pretty much perfect offensively," said head coach Augie Garrido.  "The difference ended up being, we picked up runs on the little ball that we play.  We also matched the long ball that they play.  That gave us an edge tonight."

Sophomore pitcher Chance Ruffin got the complete game win.

Game-2 is 2PM Sunday at UFCU Disch Falk Field.
