An Austin nursing home manager, accused of stealing more than $2,000 from an elderly patient, claims she was framed. Adelita Rosas managed Maggie Johnson Nursing Home's trust fund until last month.

"I've worked in nursing homes all my life, so to be accused of this is very hard," said Rosas. "It's shocking that they think I would do something like that."

Rosas admitted to cashing a check for one of the residents and giving the entire amount to his family. But she forgot to fill out all the paperwork.

"Of course, I had to sign the back of the check," said Rosas. "Because he didn't have his ID, they wouldn't cash it for him."

Cheryl Killian, President of Legacy Care Centers which owns the nursing home, thinks Rosas is lying.

"This is all they have," said Killian. "It's all they have, and they entrusted it to us to take care of. The preponderance of the evidence says she did it. I believe she did it."

Killian said Rosas failed to follow proper policy and procedure and said Rosas had no proof she gave the money to the alleged victim's family.

"If she had stolen from me, it would be a whole different situation, but it was them," said Killian. "It's just wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong."

Rosas said the nursing home's administrator wanted to get her fired.

She became emotional when talking about her patients.

"When you see someone later on in years, the way I treated them, that's the way I want to be treated," said Rosas.
