AUSTIN(KXAN) - With district play to start for a number of central Texas teams next week, it is a smaller than usual schedule of high school action.  All but three area 5A teams are taking their open week to gear up for their run to the playoffs.

Pflugerville makes the short trip to Dragon Stadium to take on their old district rivals from Round Rock.  Both the Panthers and Dragons are coming off wins last weekend. The only other 5A team in action is Connally. The Cougars looking to get to 2-1 as they play at Killeen friday.

There is a good non-district game in Hutto.  The 3-0 Hippos host 2-1 Del Valle.  Hutto is not only unbeaten, but they have outscored their opponents by a combined score of 108-26.

Lake Travis takes their 33 game win streak to Boerne to battle the Greyhounds. The Cavs remain #2 in class 4A behind Longview.

Also in 4A, Hays is still looking for their first win of the season, Rebels play at 1-2 McCallum.  After losses to Anderson and Austin High, the Knights bounced back in a big way with a 41-14 win over Dripping Springs last week.  Taylor is looking for a 4-0 start, Ducks play at 0-2 Llano.

Be sure to check out KXAN Game Night friday at 10:15 for all the area highlights and scores.
