OMAHA, Neb. (KXAN) - Adding to their long list of dramatic wins this post-season, the Texas baseball team once again found a way.
Down 3-2 going into the bottom of the ninth inning against Arizona State, the Longhorns got two solo homeruns at Rosenblatt Stadium Friday night to send them into the championship series against LSU.
Tied 2-2 going into the ninth, Arizona State's Zach Wilson tripled into the rightfield corner to score Jason Kipnis and take a 3-2 lead.
UT's sophomore catcher Cameron Rupp responded, hitting his third homerun in two games. It was a solo shot to straightaway centerfield tying the game back at 3.
Two batters later, sophomore centerfielder Connor Rowe won the game with a walkoff solo homerun to left, igniting the Longhorn fans.
Texas remained unbeaten in Omaha this year and advances to play LSU in a best-of-three series for the national title. Game-1 is Monday night at 6PM.
