Puppy Bowl kicks off pregame show

AUSTIN (KXAN) - The Austin Humane Society had its own Super Bowl pregame show Sunday with its third annual Puppy Bowl.

The event gives the homeless pups a chance to sniff out a new owner.

The competitors in the bowl this year were the Saint Bernards versus the Cold Noses - with team uniforms and referees on the lookout for "unnecessary ruff-ness."

The Humane Society is Austin's largest no-kill shelter and adopts thousands of pets a year, trying to place them in permanent homes.
