Austin (KXAN) - Starbucks is voluntarily recalling about 530,000 of its Starbucks Barista and Seattle’s Best Coffee Blade Grinders after the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said the grinders can fail to turn off, or start unexpectedly posing a laceration hazard.
The CPSC already received 176 incidents, including three reports of hand lacerations which occurred when the grinders turned on unexpectedly during cleaning.
The CPSC is still interested in receiving incident or injury reports involved with this product at https://www.cpsc.gov/cgibin/incident.aspx or by calling their hotline at 1-800-638-2772.
Several models are affected and the CPSC instructs consumers to immediately stop using the coffee grinders and contact Starbucks to receive a free replacement grinder.
For more information about a replacement grinder, call Starbucks at 1-866-276-2950.
