WIMBLEDON, England(KXAN) - Andy Roddick won a long, hard fought battle with his old rival Lleyton Hewitt in five sets on Wednesday evening in quarterfinal action at Wimbledon. Roddick won the deciding set 6-4 after losing the 4th set by the same score.
Roddick now faces 22 year old Andy Murray from Scotland. Murray will be the clear cut fan favorite on friday as Roddick tries to earn his third Wimlbedon final. Roddick lost in his two Wimbledon finals in 2004 and 2005.
"I'm super relieved just coming off the court and really really happy," Roddick told ESPN just after the match. "I hadn't really been in the grand slam picture much in the last two years and this is my second semifinal of the year so far so I'm thrilled right now."
Roddick lost to Roger Federer in the semifinals of the Australian Open earlier this year.
