AUSTIN (KXAN) - When asked if they support Speaker Joe Straus’s opinion to run for Speaker again, the chair of the Republican caucus didn’t give a definitive answer.
“I think a lot of that will be determined on how the elections go,” said Taylor. “If the Republicans pick up seats, he’ll be the leading candidate. If Democrats pick up seats, which I think is highly unlikely..obviously he’ll have trouble in that scenerio.”
Democratic leader, Rep. Jim Dunnam, however, gave Republican Straus a thumbs-up.
“I do believe that Joe Straus gave the House an opportunity to get back to the people’s business,” said Dunnam.
