An unofficial group of Iranians living in Austin have announced a candlelight vigil on Monday night at 9 p.m.

The vigil will be held on a pedestrian bridge at Town Lake, according to organizers. The bridge is between Riverside and First.

"I feel I need to be there, I have to be there, and I can't," said organizer and Iran-native Roja Najafi.

In addition to organizing the vigil, Najafi said she and others from across the globe have started posting life saving tips to treat gunshot wounds and other type of injuries, since many protesters in Iran are avoiding hospitals for fear of being black-listed.

"The injured people who have gone to hospitals - we have heard, that their names are being taken. Their addresses are being taken, so people don't go to hospitals. This is awful," she said.

She calls the Monday evening vigil a show of solidarity.

"Our vote got stolen from us. But we shouldn't let our hope get stolen," Najafi said.

Najafi is asking attendees to avoid bringing signs, and to wear dark clothing to keep the occasion somber.
