Ninety-four thousand smoke detectors are being recalled because they may not work during a fire.
Kidde is recalling their model PI2000 Dual Sensor Smoke Alarms Units.
The detectors are prone to electrostatic discharge which can damage them and keep them from going off during a fire.
The smoke detectors were sold at stores nationwide from August 2008 through May 2009 for between $30 and $40. They can be identified by two buttons on the front/center of the alarm. The buttons say "hush and "push and hold to test weekley."
If you have one of the smoke detectors pictured here contact Kidde toll-free at (877) 524-2086 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or visit their Web site for a free replacement.
