SAN MARCOS, Texas (KXAN) - Ten days after 150 people bowed their heads in a San Marcos city park, asking God for rain, an answer finally fell from above.

“God controls the whole universe,” said Randy Bryan, Bay Area Fellowship pastor. “If He wants to, He can make it rain somewhere.”

“Then to actually see,” said Jason Bollinger, River Stone Community Church pastor. “It was more than I thought would give up a Monday night to come together for something like this.”

The shower that soon followed went on for four days, as many as eight inches piling up across Hays County.

“We started texting each other,” laughed Bryan. “Facebook started lighting up. Twitter and all that stuff. We were just excited to see it.”

Hays was one of the state’s three driest counties during the two-year drought. As overflowing creeks forced road closures and fields once again found relief, the event also brought belief back to the community.

“Just kind of a refreshing, kind of a touch from God,” said Tom Ray, Hill Country Church pastor. “Just kind of a special blessing from God, spiritually, as well, just on our hearts.”

Even as the rain tapered off, those who met in the park that hot, dry night said they have not stopped talking to God, thanking Him for this blessing.

“I don’t know how long it’s going to keep raining,” said Bryan. “I’m just thrilled that it is.”
