AUSTIN (KXAN) - The Austin Community College Pinnacle Campus in Southwest Austin will remain closed through Sunday as electricians repair damage from a fire early on Wednesday.
Classes are expcected to resume Monday, October 19.
The Austin Fire Department investigated an electrical fire at the Austin Community College Pinnacle building in Southwest Austin.
AFD said crews were called to a high-rise alarm fire in the 7700 block of West US 290 around 6:45 a.m. Wednesday, arriving on the scene to see smoke in the building.
Investigators said the smoke was from a small electrical fire on the ninth floor of the building. They said the damage was confined to electrical components and had put the fire out as of 7:13 a.m.
Brette Lea, ACC Executive Director of Public Information and College Marketing, said she didn't think there was a fire-- just smoke in a ninth-floor equipment room.
ACC had originally canceled classes at the Pinnacle campus until noon Wednesday; but they decided at 10:20 a.m. to instead cancel classes for the remainder of the day. On Wednesday afternoon they cancelled all classes through Sunday.
All other campuses will have classes as scheduled. Only the Pinnacle campus is affected.
