AUSTIN (KXAN) - Fifty Central Texas World War II veterans are in our nation's capital, thanks to a very special program.
The nonprofit organization, Honor Flight Austin, arranged for the vets to fly out of Austin-Bergstrom International Airport on Tuesday morning free of charge on Southwest Airlines.
It's the second of these honor flights this year. They'll get a chance to visit the World War II Memorial and reflect on their service to our country.
"Well, I think it's a great honor, very great honor. And I can't imagine how they put it together," said Jack Hitt, a WWII veteran.
