JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (AP) - A fund has been established to help the family of a Mountain City soldier who was killed in the shooting at Fort Hood, Texas.
U.S. Army Spc. Fred Z. Greene was one of 13 people killed in the Nov. 5 shooting.
Greene's wife, Kristie, and their two daughters were going to move to the Army post to celebrate Christmas with him, prior to his scheduled January deployment to Afghanistan.
The Johnson City Press reported the family has now moved to Johnson City to live with Greene's parents.
Kristie Greene had sold everything, including the couple's home, in preparation to move to Fort Hood.
The Fred Z. Greene Family Fund is at First Tennessee bank.
